Latest Education Index analysis published by UNDP source for 2007/2008 described that the Education Index of Sri Lanka is 0.814 leading other South Asian countries, as given by the graph. |

Sri Lanka leading South Asian countries in Human Development |
Sri Lanka’s position is much higher than other South Asian countries in Human Development as per the analysis done by United Nation Development Program resources2 which is presented in the following graph. The Human Development Index (HDI) measures a country's achievements in three areas of human development viz: longevity, knowledge & a decent standard of living. A combination of adult literacy and the combined primary, secondary and tertiary gross enrolment ratio is used as a measure of knowledge. The human development index trends have been published by UNDP1 . |
